After such bad press surrounding the British travelling to places like Poland and Thailand for surgery, I was more than a little nervous as I sat on a plane bound for Belgrade for my first ever cosmetic surgery, a tummy tuck.

At 44 years old, having given birth to three children by two caesareans and after a sterilisation, I had more than my fair share of battle scars on my tummy.Stretch marks and loose skin wobbling around my front affected everything I did, from dressing the way I truly wanted to, to feeling inhibited and self-conscious in the bedroom.

I wore loose, over-sized tops, flared un-tailored dresses, positively no belts and dark colours as standard.
No matter how I dieted, the loose skin that hung around me like a skirt refused to shift but after seeing how good some of my clients looked after tummy tuck surgery, I wanted that feeling and image for myself.

The only problem was cash. As a single parent, with a mortgage, I knew it was not going to be feasible for me to have the surgery in the UK. The best quote for what I dreamed of to improve myself in Britain was £6,800.

Impossible.

After weeks and weeks of trying to save while grilling clients who were happy to discuss their surgery, I fell upon someone who wholeheartedly recommended ‘Beauty Surgeons Abroad”. I drove out, down to London to talk to the actual surgeon, a lady, who was to go on to perform my surgery.

She talked to me, carefully examined me and put my mind totally at rest with her professionalism and genuinely caring manner.
I saw many impressive examples of her work, photographs of the hospital and she gave me reassurances that I would have absolute support with flights and the hospital transfers to the hospital once I landed in Belgrade.

The price of my surgery was to include liposuction from each hip to balance and enhance the tummy tuck. It was estimated ‘all in’ with flights to be less then half the price I would have had to pay in Britain for exactly the same qualified surgery in Belgrade.
I was more than pleased with the way my consultation was honestly and openly conducted. I relaxed as we discussed the procedures, the risks, and the recovery times.
There was no heavy sales pitch, no incentives, just an air of professional people who cared passionately about their work.
A copy of my medical record was sent direct from my UK Doctor ’s surgery by Email before I travelled.
The plane travel was effortless because all I had was hand baggage. It was just like like catching a bus.

My tummy tuck required a 4 night stay at the hospital and to save time, the surgery was to take place the same day I travelled, which was great because I was nervous and excited all at the same time.

On my arrival at Belgrade airport, I was met by a friendly English speaking driver. He was holding a large card bearing my name. He whisked me efficiently into a mini-bus and gave me an informative review of Belgrade history, pointing out famous landmarks as we made the short journey to the hospital.

At the hospital reception, I was greeted by the hospital manager who showed me to my room which had exactly the same layout and cleanliness as any UK hospital private room with its colour TV, air conditioning and fully uniformed nursing staff confidently going about their tasks.

My surgeon hugged me and after taking some ‘before’ photos, I was introduced to the anaesthetist who performed an ECG, took blood samples and blood pressure readings before asking a lot of medical questions as he prepared me for surgery.
I was impressed by the utter smoothness and professionalism of my whole experience The staff seemed, relaxed and genuinely happy around me and my nervousness faded into a childish keenness to get on and get my new tummy.

Awaking from the surgery, I found myself safe back in my own room with the nurses tending to my bed. I was wearing an elasticated corset around my midriff and knee length elasticated pantaloons for support.
My surgeon appeared to reassure me that the operation had gone really well. She told me how much weight she had taken from my tummy and how much fat she had sucked away from my hips.

I felt absolutely euphoric.

Recovery was pleasant over the following days, with a nurse on-hand by buzzer to bring me drinks and food as I felt like it.
I was kept comfortable and clean and the nurses laughed along with me as daily I learned to walk and stand again with confidence.
My last morning at the hospital was a flurry of tearful goodbyes. I felt like I was leaving family, people who really cared about what they were doing in a calm and capable way.
Aftercare was arranged in my home town, stitches were removed. Within weeks I was wearing jeans, fitted skirts and crop tops.

I was so satisfied with my experience that I decided to contact my surgeon after I’d fully recovered to offer to write this testimonial.
I am also more than happy to take calls from anyone thinking of travelling to Belgrade who has any questions about the trip.
Do consider this as an affordable alternative to surgery in the UK. It’s the best feeling ever.
The trip, the anticipation and the fabulous results have boosted my confidence in so many ways.

You will be in excellent hands, literally.

The sky above Belgrade is wide and high, unstable but always beautiful; even during winter serenities with their icy splendour; even during summer storms when the whole of it turns into a single gloomy cloud which, driven by the mad wind, carries the rain mixed with the dust of panonian plain; even in spring when it seems that it also blooms, along with the ground; even in autumn when it grows heavy with the autumn stars in swarms. Always beautiful and rich, as a compensation to this strange town for everything that isn’t there, and a consolation because of everything that shouldn’t be there. But the greatest splendour of that sky above Belgrade, that are the sunsets. In autumn and in summer, they are broad and bright like desert mirages, and in winter they are smothered by murky clouds and dark red hazes. And in every time of year frequently come the days when the flame of that sun setting in the plain, between the rivers beneath Belgrade, gets reflected way up in the high celestial dome, and it breaks there and pours down over the scattered town. Then, for a moment, the reddish tint of the sun paints even the remotest corners of Belgrade and reflects into the windows, even of those houses it otherwise poorly illuminates.

Written about Belgrade by: Ivo Andrić, Nobel prize laureate

Belgrade is situated at the place where the river Sava joins the Danube. Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe and, beside Athens, the greatest urban whole of the Balkan Peninsula. The oldest archaeological artefacts from Belgrade area date back to the fifth millenium B.C. The members of a Celtic tribe founded Singidunum in the III century B.C., while the first record of the name Belgrade dates back to 878 A.D. During its long and tumultuous history, Belgrade has been conquered by 40 armies, and 38 times it has been raised up from the ashes. Belgrade has around 1,6 million residents. In the field of traffic and transport, it is a city of the highest importance as a road and railway center, as a port for river and air traffic, and as a telecommunication center. Important economic and agricultural capacities are developed in Belgrade, especially metallurgy, metal-working industry and electronic industry, then commerce and banking. The free trade zone is located in the wider area of Belgrade, on the banks of the Danube river, covering 2,000 sqm of business space. Belgrade is the capital of culture, education and science in the southern Europe. It has the greatest concentration of institutions of national importance in the field of science and art. Belgrade has the status of a separate teritorial unit, having its own autonomous city government. Its territory is divided into 17 municipalities, having their own local governmental bodies.

procedures-face-ear reshaping(otoplasty)

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Ear reshaping surgery, or otoplasty, can improve the shape and the position of ears, bringing them in harmony with the rest of facial features. Deformities can be presented at birth or can be caused by trauma. The otoplasty surgery boosts self-esteem both in children and adults.

The Aim

Ear surgery is usually undertaken to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. It is a procedure that can be successfully performed on both children and adults.

The Procedure

Incisions are generally placed behind the ear so the scars are invisible. The cartilage of the ear is remodelled and on occasion some of the cartilage removed. This procedure can be performed under local or general anaesthesia. Surgery lasts about one hour and discharge from hospital takes place the same day.

The Recovery

Patients can back to everyday activities about five days after surgery.

procedures-face-nose reshaping(rhinoplasty)

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Nose reshaping or rhinoplasty can not only enhance the look of your face but also correct breathing problems (septoplasty). The origin of these problems can be different: from child birth deformity, history of trauma or dissatisfaction with the previous rhinoplasty.

The Aim

Our expert will help you to have beautiful nose that look natural and blends harmoniously with other facial features. The final result of nose surgery often has a positive effect on the patient`s personality.

The Procedure

There are various rhinoplasty techniques in which it is possible to change the shape, size, bridge and tip of the nose. Your surgeon will spend time advising you on the most appropriate operation to suit your needs. The surgery takes around 90 minutes, performed under general anaesthesia, and requires usually 1 over night stay in hospital.

The Recovery

Although some improvements will be apparent in about two weeks, changes will continue to occur over next 6-12 months. You are usually able to return back to work in 10 days.

** This surgery can also correct deformities of septum improving functional as well as esthetical part of the nose.

procedures-face-threadlift

What is Thredlift?

Threadlift is one of the most sweeping facial cosmetic rejuvenation trends available today..

Who can benefit?

Our dedicated surgeons are fully equipped to perform this surgery for you if you have minimal signs of ageing or feel you are not yet ready for a full face lift. Opting for this procedure can lessen the need for more major facial rejuvenation in subsequent years.

The Procedure

Specially designed surgical threads are fed into the fat layer, just under the skin which effectively suspends a relaxed facial, brow or neck area. The barbs from the one end of the thread grab lift the sagging tissue and the teeth from the other end anchor it to the rest of the facial tissue. No stitches are required and no scars are produced. The contour thread material, clear polypropylene, has been widely used in other medical applications for many years.

The Recovery

Thread lift is a relatively simple procedure, performed in about one hour under a local anaesthesia. It requires very small incisions and a minimal recovery time.

procedures-face-eyelid surgery(blefaroplasty)

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

One of the earliest signs of ageing can be loose skin on eyelids and puffy eye bags. That makes some people look constantly tired.

The Aim

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty and sometimes eye lift surgery, eliminates that sagging skin, wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes for a more youthful and well rested, fresh look.

The Procedure

Incisions are hidden below the lower eyelid lashes and carefully set into the creases of the upper lids. If there are ‘fat bags’ underneath lower eyelids but no skin needs to be removed, an incision is made inside the lower eyelid (tranconjutival blefaroplasty).

The Recovery

During that period, you will be suggested to apply light ice packs over your eyes. The recovery from eyelid surgery takes from one week to one month and the complete healing process takes up to few months as scars fade to thin white lines.

**Eyelid surgery can be performed alone or together with other cosmetic procedures.

procedures-facelift-surgery(rhytidectomy)

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Ageing process is inevitable, but looking old is not! Facelift surgery, also known as rhitidectomy, reshapes the face and neck to recapture the appearance of youth without that pulled unnatural look.

The Aim

This confidence building procedure effectively renews a youthful appearance to the face, resulting in a more defined profile and a fresh, more pleasing reflection. Your surgeon will firm up the jaw line, smooth out deeper lines and wrinkles across the face and brow and tighten any excess or sagging skin around the neck.

The Procedure

Incisions are mostly hidden beneath the hairline and behind the ears. Through the incisions, the underlying tissues are expertly re-modelled and re-draped. Surgery lasts around three hours under general anaesthesia. It requires a one or two night stay in hospital.

The Recovery

Swelling and bruising is normal.

The Aftercare

Stitches are removed after 7 and 14 days. During this period you will be advised to refrain from physical activity. Afterwards, normal daily activities can be resumed.

**Talk to our surgeons about other procedures associated with the classic face lift to compliment and emphasize the final result. They will be happy to explain how you can restore the cheek bone areas, rejuvenate lips or lift your brows to enhance the natural look.
